Reddit Comments Scraper (reddit.com) | Search, Threads and Replies (2026)

1 search. 50 Reddit comments. 63 fields per comment.

From SilentFlow. Creators of Pinterest Scraper and Leboncoin Scraper Ppe, with 410,000+ combined lifetime runs.

Every Reddit comment that mentions your keywords, every reply of a thread, every comment of a subreddit or a profile, as clean rows with their post, their score and the buying signals already flagged.

Why choose this actor?

Looking for what people really say about a product, a competitor or a problem? On Reddit it is in the comments, buried under "load more replies" and spread over hundreds of communities. This actor collects them for you, one row per comment.

  • 59 filled fields on every comment. Text, author, score, depth, parent, reply count, edit date, the title, link and comment count of its post, the community, engagement per hour, and lead signals: help requests, pain points, budgets, products named, intent and sentiment. On the default search, 59 fields were filled on every row.
  • Search by keyword or paste any Reddit link. A keyword finds the comments that mention it across Reddit (50 comments from 40 different subreddits for "best crm for small business"). A post link gives its whole thread, hidden replies included (2,185 comments from one AskReddit thread, nine reply levels deep). A subreddit link gives the comments of its latest posts, a profile link the comments of that user.
  • Nothing to fill in before the first run. No field is required and the form opens with a working search, so the first run returns comments right away. No Reddit account and no API key either.

How to scrape Reddit comments

Find the comments that mention your product category

Every comment that matches the search, across all of Reddit, most relevant first. Each row says which post it answers.

{
"searches": ["best crm for small business", "hubspot alternative"],
"maxItems": 200
}

Export every comment of a thread, hidden replies included

Set comments per post to 0 and the whole thread comes out, every "load more replies" opened, with the depth and parent of each comment so you can rebuild the conversation.

{
"startUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/1wzbc6m/" }],
"maxCommentsPerPost": 0,
"maxItems": 3000
}

Collect the comments of a subreddit or of a user

A subreddit link gives the comments of its latest posts (60 comments across 14 posts of r/smallbusiness in 24 seconds). A profile link gives the comments that user wrote, newest first.

{
"startUrls": [
{ "url": "https://www.reddit.com/r/smallbusiness/" },
{ "url": "https://www.reddit.com/user/spez/" }
],
"maxCommentsPerPost": 20,
"maxItems": 300
}

Accepted URLs:

  • Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/1wzbc6m/ returns every comment of the thread (up to maxCommentsPerPost)
  • Subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/smallbusiness/, or a sorted listing such as https://www.reddit.com/r/smallbusiness/top/, returns the comments of its posts
  • User profile: https://www.reddit.com/user/spez/ or https://www.reddit.com/user/spez/comments/ returns that user's comments
  • Search page: https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=crm searches the comments for its keywords

Search terms and URLs can be mixed in one run. URLs are read first, then the searches, until maxItems comments are collected.

What data can you extract from Reddit?

Each row is one comment. The fields come in four groups.

The comment. id, url (its permalink), body, html, username, userId, authorFlairText, upVotes, score, depth (0 for a top-level comment), parentId and parentKind (the post or the comment it replies to), repliesCount and numberOfreplies, isSubmitter (written by the author of the post), stickied, editedAt (when the author changed it), createdAt.

Its post and community. postId, postTitle, postUrl, postUpVotes, postCommentsCount, postCreatedAt, communityName, subredditName.

Engagement, computed on every row. ageHours, scorePerHour (score divided by the age in hours, at least one hour), commentsPerHour, engagementTotal, isHighEngagement, wordCount, bodyLength.

Lead signals, detected on every row. wantsHelp (asks for advice or a tool), hasPain and painPoint (the sentence that describes the problem), mentionsPrice, willingToPay, featureRequest, isVendor (a seller promoting something), isOwner (a founder or business owner), mentionedProducts (the tools the author uses, recommends or switches between), intent (question, recommendation_request, complaint, promotion or discussion), sentimentScore from -1 to 1 and sentimentLabel, lang. They are keyword rules, the same result on every run; sentiment is computed for English text and left null otherwise.

The dataset has three views: Overview (comment, author, subreddit, post, upvotes, date, link), Lead signals (intent and every flag next to the comment) and Comments (the thread columns: depth, replies, parent).

Advanced usage

Build a lead list from people asking for a recommendation

Search the phrases buyers use, then keep the rows where wantsHelp is true or intent is recommendation_request. On the default search, 8 comments out of 50 asked for help and 13 named the tools they use.

{
"searches": ["looking for a crm", "recommend a crm", "crm for a small team"],
"sort": "new",
"time": "month",
"maxItems": 500
}

Track what people say about a competitor

Search the competitor's name, then read mentionedProducts, hasPain and sentimentLabel to see what they switch from, what hurts and how they feel about it.

{
"searches": ["hubspot"],
"sort": "new",
"postDateLimit": "2026-09-01",
"maxItems": 1000
}

Read one community only

The same search, limited to one subreddit. Useful when a community is your market and the rest of Reddit is noise.

{
"searches": ["inventory software"],
"searchCommunityName": "smallbusiness",
"sort": "top",
"time": "year",
"maxItems": 300
}

Archive the full discussion of a launch or an announcement

Paste the post of the announcement and load the whole thread every week. editedAt and score show how the conversation moved, and parentId rebuilds every reply chain.

{
"startUrls": [{ "url": "https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/1wzbc6m/" }],
"maxCommentsPerPost": 0,
"maxItems": 5000
}

Send the comments to Google Sheets, Slack or your CRM

Schedule the actor in Apify (every morning, for example) and connect an integration: Google Sheets, Slack, Zapier, Make, n8n or a webhook. Each run adds the new comments, and the Lead signals view gives a ready-made sheet of the conversations worth answering.

{
"searches": ["alternative to notion", "notion is too slow"],
"sort": "new",
"time": "day",
"maxItems": 200
}

FAQ

What does this Reddit comments scraper extract? Comments, one row each, with 59 filled fields: the text, author, score, depth, parent and replies, the post it belongs to, the community, engagement metrics and detected lead signals.

Do I need a Reddit account or an API key? No. It reads public Reddit pages only, the way a visitor sees them. Nothing to sign in to.

How do I get every comment of a thread? Paste the post URL and set comments per post to 0. Every reply Reddit still serves is loaded, the hidden "load more replies" branches included: 2,185 comments from one large AskReddit thread in 48 seconds.

Why do I get fewer comments than the count Reddit displays? Reddit's count includes deleted and removed comments that it no longer serves. You get every comment that is still there.

Can I search comments in one subreddit only? Yes. Add the community name in Within one community, for example smallbusiness, and the search stays inside it.

Can I mix search terms and URLs? Yes. The URLs are read first, then the search terms, until the run has collected maxItems comments. Each row says where it came from in source and, for searches, searchTerm.

How fresh is the data? Every run reads Reddit live. Sort by New with a time range of a day or a week, or set Posted after, to get only the latest comments.

What are the lead signals and how reliable are they? They are keyword rules applied to the text of each comment: help requests, pain points, prices, readiness to pay, feature requests, sellers, business owners and products named. The same text always gives the same flags. Use them to sort and filter, then read the comments that matter.

Can I get the posts too? This actor returns comments only, with the title, link, score and comment count of their post on every row. For the posts themselves, subreddit archives and communities, use Reddit Scraper.

How many comments can one run collect? There is no fixed limit: set maxItems to the volume you need. A whole thread of a few thousand comments takes about a minute.
