Scribd Scraper | Documents, Authors and Views (2026)

Scribd documents, 29 fields each, from any search.

From SilentFlow. Creators of Facebook Search Scraper and Pinterest Scraper, with 570,000+ combined lifetime runs.

Every public Scribd document you can find with a keyword, a link or an ID, as one clean row: title, uploader and profile, pages, words, views, rating, upload date, real language, license, file formats and table of contents. 100 documents in about 40 seconds.

Why choose this actor?

Opening Scribd results one by one to copy a title, an uploader and a view count? Running a tool that takes a document ID and hands back a file link with nothing you can sort or filter? Working from a list where every document says "English", including the French ones?

  • 27 data fields on every document, not a status message. Each row has 33 columns. On our default run (the keyword "business plan", 100 rows), 27 data fields were filled on at least half of the rows, and 100 of 100 rows carried the word count, license, file formats, uploader profile, upload date and vote counts. The document page is read for every row, so 14 of those 100 documents came back with their real language (13 French, 1 Indonesian) where the search card says English.
  • Three ways in: a keyword, a Scribd link or a document ID. Type what you would type in the Scribd search box, paste document, search or profile links from any language site, or paste document IDs. One mixed run (1 profile, 1 Spanish search link, 4 IDs) returned 31 rows in 13 seconds, and the one removed ID was reported in the log instead of landing in your data as an empty row.
  • Nothing to fill in before your first run. No field is required, no Scribd account, no API key. The form opens with a keyword already in place: press Start and the first 40 documents arrive in about 15 seconds.

Try Scribd Scraper

Paste this input in the Input tab, or send it through the API, and run it. You get the first 100 documents Scribd ranks for "business plan", each with its uploader, pages, words, views, rating, upload date, language, license and file formats. Our test run returned 100 rows in 39 seconds.

The Apify Free plan is enough to run it: no credit card, no Scribd account, no API key.

Paste this block into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any coding assistant to give it the full picture of this actor:

You have access to the Scribd Scraper on Apify: silentflow/scribd-scraper
It reads public documents uploaded to Scribd (scribd.com). One row = one document.
Ebooks and audiobooks (sold on Everand) are not read. Files are not downloaded: rows carry metadata and links.
Input (no field is required; give at least one of searches, startUrls, documentIds):
- searches (array of strings): keywords as typed in the Scribd search box, e.g. ["business plan"].
- startUrls (array of {url}): scribd.com links from any language site:
document links (/document/{id}/..., /presentation/{id}/..., /embeds/{id}/content),
search links (/search?query=...&filters=...), profile links (/user/{id}/{name}).
- documentIds (array of strings or numbers): document IDs such as "104915100"; document links work too.
- maxItems (integer, default 100): max rows per keyword, search link or profile. 40 documents per search page.
- language (string): ISO 639-1 code, ISO 639-2 code or name, e.g. "es", "spa", "Spanish", "Español".
- fileTypes (array): any of "pdf", "word", "epub", "presentation", "spreadsheet". Empty = all.
- pageRange (string, default "any"): "any", "1-3", "4-100" or "100+".
- uploadedWithin (string, default "any"): "any", "1week", "1month", "3month", "6month" or "1year".
- includeDetails (boolean, default true): read each document page. false = search card data only, faster.
- debugMode (boolean, default false).
Output per row (33 fields, missing values are null, missing lists are []):
- id (string, stable Scribd document id), url (permanent reader link), title, displayTitle, documentType (document | presentation)
- description, language (English name), languageCode (ISO 639-1), categories (array), topics (array),
tableOfContents (array of {title, page}), license, isbn
- pageCount, wordCount, fileTypes (array), formats (array of {extension, fileSize}), isDownloadable (boolean)
- author, authorId, authorUrl (Scribd profile)
- views (integer), rating (0-5, null without votes), ratingCount, upvoteCount, downvoteCount
- releasedAt (upload date, RFC 3339; from keyword and search link rows)
- imageUrl (cover), thumbnailUrl, embedUrl, translations (array of {language, languageCode, id, url})
- searchQuery (the input that produced the row), scrapedAt (RFC 3339 UTC)
Use apify-client for Python or JavaScript: client.actor("silentflow/scribd-scraper").call(run_input={...}),
then read the default dataset. Dataset views: overview, files, authors.

How to scrape Scribd documents

Get the most read documents on a topic

The simplest run: one keyword, the default 100 rows. Sort the dataset by views to see what people actually open.

{
"searches": ["machine learning notes"]
}

Find short Spanish PDF contracts

Filters stack: here only Spanish documents, uploaded as PDF, between 1 and 3 pages. Our run of this input returned 30 rows, all 30 in Spanish and all 30 between 1 and 3 pages.

{
"searches": ["contrato de arrendamiento"],
"language": "Spanish",
"fileTypes": ["pdf"],
"pageRange": "1-3",

}

Check a list of Scribd documents by ID

Paste the IDs or links you already have. Each one returns one full row, or a line in the log when the document was removed.

{
"documentIds": ["104915100", "86604919", "1087636074"],

  • Document links: https://www.scribd.com/document/104915100/Business-Plan-Template-Professional-Business-Plan, https://es.scribd.com/presentation/86604919/Business-Plan-McKinsey, https://www.scribd.com/embeds/104915100/content, and the short scribd.com/doc/86604919.
  • Search links: copy the address bar after a search on scribd.com, filters included: https://www.scribd.com/search?query=business%20plan. The filters picked on the site are kept, and the filters of the form fill the ones the link does not set.
  • Profile links: https://www.scribd.com/user/171435564/The-Business-Plan-Team. The run reads the uploads the profile shows.
  • Document IDs: 104915100, #104915100, or a number pasted from a spreadsheet.
  • A number typed in Keywords stays a keyword: 1984 searches for 1984.
  • Inputs copied from other Scribd actors keep working: queries, keyword, maxResultsPerQuery, max_items, and the numeric language values of the Scribd filter (4 for Spanish).
  • Ebook and audiobook links (/book/, /audiobook/, everand.com) are skipped with a message: those titles are sold on Everand.

The dataset has three views: Documents (title, uploader, pages, views, rating, upload date, language, link), File details (license, words, formats, topics, categories) and Authors (uploader, profile, document, views, votes). Export any of them to CSV, Excel, JSON or XML from the run page, or pull them from the API.

Advanced usage

Watch what gets uploaded on a topic every week

Schedule this run weekly in Apify: it returns only the documents uploaded in the last 7 days, so each run is the week's new material on the topic.

{
"searches": ["city council minutes", "board meeting minutes"],
"uploadedWithin": "1week",
"maxItems": 200
}

Pull a fast list of search results without the document pages

Turn off the full details when you only need the search card data: title, uploader, pages, views, votes, categories and upload date. The default keyword returned 100 rows this way in 24 seconds.

{
"searches": ["business plan"],
"includeDetails": false,
"maxItems": 100
}

Paste a search you built on scribd.com

Run your search on scribd.com, pick its filters there (category, content type, length), then paste the address. The run keeps those filters. Here a Spanish search link returned 20 Spanish rows.

{
"startUrls": [
{ "url": "https://www.scribd.com/search?query=plan%20de%20negocios&content_type=documents&filters=%7B%22language%22%3A%5B%224%22%5D%7D" }
],
"maxItems": 20
}

Collect long German manuals

Combine a language with the length and format filters to keep only the long reference works: here German PDF manuals of more than 100 pages. Run it once per language you need.

{
"searches": ["service manual", "workshop manual"],
"pageRange": "100+",
"fileTypes": ["pdf"],
"language": "de",
"maxItems": 150
}

List the uploads of several publishers

Paste profile links, for instance from the authorUrl column of an earlier run. Each profile returns the uploads it shows, with the full details of each document.

{
"startUrls": [
{ "url": "https://www.scribd.com/user/171435564/The-Business-Plan-Team" },
{ "url": "https://www.scribd.com/user/96390622/Christian-Gonzalez-Carrasco" }
]
}

FAQ

What is Scribd? Scribd is a reading platform where people and organizations upload documents (PDF, Word, presentations, spreadsheets) that anyone can read online: business plans, course notes, manuals, research papers, public records. Its ebooks and audiobooks moved to Everand, its sister service.

What does this actor extract exactly? One row per public document with 33 fields: what it is (title, description, type, categories, table of contents), the file (pages, words, formats and sizes, license), who uploaded it (name, ID, profile link), how it performs (views, rating, votes), when it was uploaded, its real language, its cover image and its embed link. It does not download the files.

Do I need a Scribd account? No. The actor reads public documents only. No login, no API key.

Which inputs can I use? Keywords, Scribd document links, Scribd search links (with the filters you picked on the site), Scribd profile links and document IDs. You can mix them in one run; a document found by two inputs is saved once.

How many documents can one search return? Scribd shows 40 documents per page and a popular keyword matches millions. Set maxItems to what you need: the run reads page after page until it reaches it or the search ends. Our "business plan" run read 3 pages for 100 rows.

Do the filters combine? Yes. language, fileTypes, pageRange and uploadedWithin all apply to the same search. "contrato de arrendamiento" with Spanish, PDF and 1 to 3 pages returned 30 rows, every one Spanish and between 1 and 3 pages long.

Why does a row say French when Scribd's results said English? The search card on Scribd shows the language of the site, not of the document. With full details on, each row takes the language from the document page: in our "business plan" run, 14 of 100 documents were French or Indonesian. With full details off, a search filtered on one language tags its rows with that language.

Why is releasedAt empty on some rows? The upload date is shown in Scribd's search results, not on the document page. Rows from keywords and search links carry it; rows from document IDs, document links and profiles leave it null.

Why is rating null? Scribd computes its score from upvotes and downvotes. A document nobody voted on has no score, so rating is null and ratingCount is 0. On the default run, 62 of 100 rows had a score.

Are the links permanent? url, embedUrl, authorUrl and the translations links are permanent Scribd addresses as long as the document stays online. Image links are served by Scribd's image servers and are not promised to stay the same over time: keep the id, which never changes, to merge runs and read fresh links later.

How fresh is the data? Live. Every run reads Scribd at that moment: views, votes and new uploads are current.

Can I get ebooks and audiobooks? No. Those titles are sold on Everand behind a subscription, so their links are skipped with a message in the log.

This Actor extracts publicly available data from scribd.com: the metadata Scribd shows to any visitor of a public document. It does not bypass any login, paywall, or CAPTCHA, and it does not download document files. Users are responsible for complying with Scribd's terms of service, with the copyright of the documents they research, and with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, and PIPL where relevant). Rows contain uploader names and profile links, which can identify a person: handle that personal data accordingly, for a legitimate purpose. The data returned is informational; check a document on Scribd before relying on it for a regulated use.
